I INTERNATIONAL TOURFILM FESTIVAL IN PŁOCK
I International Tourfilm Festival in Płock
Płock, a beautiful and historical capital of Mazowsze - the largest region of Poland, accepted the role of host of International Tourfilm Festival, which as first in Poland continues lasting already almost 50 years traditions of tourfilm festivals in Europe and in the world. Roots of tourfilm festivals are in Italy, and creator of the first festival with world popularity was Antonio Conte, then originator of many festivals in Europe, at present president of International Tourfilm and Multimedial Festival Committee in Rome and honorary president of CIFFT (Comité International des Festivals du Film Touristique) in Vienna. Ewa Kotus - President of Foundation "Europe 2004" imported the festival to Poland, inviting to Płock in June 2005 doctor Antonio Conte and showing him this beautiful city. During the press conference Mirosław Milewski - president of the city Płock invited to organize The Festival in this antique town.
I International Tourfilm Festival in Płock took place on 20-24 September 2006 under patronages of high national offices, with presidency of Minister of Culture and National Heritage and ministry of Economy. This international undertaking attracted to Płock personalities of film and tourism, such as: Antonio Conte, who had a function of Honorary President of Festival, Krzysztof Zanussi - famous Polish director, Gavrilo Azinovic - General Manager of parallel Festival MEFEST in Serbia, Irene Giannakopoulos - President of well-known international cultural and touristic meetings YPERIA on the island Amorgos in Greece, Valerio Provvedi - film critic, president of jury of the previous Festival in Serbia, Carlo Savini - professor, expert in tourism, member of jury of international festivals, journalists associated in European Federation of Touristic Presse, accredited journalists from Argentina, Belorussia, Croatia, Japan, Latvia, Russia, Serbia with presidency of Jacek Wan - President of Foreign Correspondents Association in Poland, Janusz Cichoń - Member of Board of Province Warmińsko-Mazurskie, representatives of media, offices and institutions - sponsors of the Festival as well as different splendid guests and their activity influences cultural and touristic cooperation in Europe and in the world.
At first some memories
I International Tourfilm Festival was opened by: Mirosław Milewski - President of the city of Płock being President of the Festival, Antonio Conte - Honorary President and Ewa Kotus - General Manager. It was very important moment as well as moving because it announced a great beginning of era of tourfilm festivals in Płock and intentions of organizers were realized: intentions of The Foundation "Europe 2004", Business Integration Group, The Office of the City Płock and International Tourfilm and Multimedial Festival Committee in Rome.
Anything what appears is not simple and beginnings and lots of some Festivals were not simple too. During solemn opening Antonio Conte and Gavrilo Azinovic - general manager of the festival MEFEST which has taken place in Serbia for 14 years were talking about it. Serbian festival was organized incessantly, even in period of wars after fall of Yugoslavia - among battles and explosions of bombs. At present MEFEST is a place of meeting of people from the whole ex-Yugoslavia - because as says doctor Antonio Conte tourfilm festivals are not only a chance for clever creators, but it is also a chance for creating friendship between nations, and peace in the World. Gavrilo Azinovic has came to Płock with film producer from Slovenia Andrej Fric, who has preparated for Festival quests presentation "ISTRIAN COOKING".
Statuette of TOURIST awarded for the first time
The statuette of TOURIST is the highest award of the International Tourfilm Festival in Płock. The One is obviously Grand Prix of Festival and it is awarded by the jury for the best film, the second, designed for the personality of the world of film and tourism for all work is awarded by the Board.
Krzysztof Zanussi - well-known in the world prominent Polish director received the first in history statuette of TOURIST, which this year accepted the name of TOURIST 2006, for the whole of creative work and propagating positive portrait of Poland in the world.
Presence of Krzysztof Zanussi made a great impression on everybody, what is more, press conference preceded ceremony of giving awards. Spectrum of questions was very large, it concerned both work of director, as well as condition of Polish film during transformations in Poland and Europe, and our dual Slavic and Latin identity. Lightness of thoughts expressed by our Guest as well as huge patriotism which predominated in statements of Krzysztof Zanussi delighted everybody.
Grande PRIX for the film about Vienna
Over hundred films were sent to secretariat of I International Tourfilm Festival in Płock. About sixty were allowed to competitive presentations. Films were valuated by international jury that consisted of:
- Katarzyna Draba - President of Jury, spokesman of Polish Tourist Press Organization
- Antonio Castello - Italian journalist of "Italia Sera", film critic
- Jędrzej Dudkiewicz - journalist and director Program I of Polish Television
- Marcin Jamkowski - Chief Editor of "National Geographic"
- Piotr Owczarski - director, producer, he cooperates with TV4
- Valerio Provvedi - Italian journalist, film critic
- Carlo Savini - professor, expert in tourism, Italian journalist
Verdict of the jury was announced on 23 September 2006 year during solemn Gala by Ewa Kotus - General Manager of Festival.
The Jury of I International Tourfilm Festival in Płock awarded GRAND PRIX - statuette of TOURIST 2006 for the film "City Dance" (dir. Court Faudon, Faudon Movies N.Y., Austria)

During solemn Gala special awards were also given:
- President of The City of Płock awarded doctor ANTONIO CONTE the statuette of Bolesław Krzywousty for organizing I International Tourfilm Festival of in Płock.
The Board of I International Tourfilm Festival gave special awards for personalities of the touristic world for initiating international cultural and touristic meetings - and participation in Honorary Committee of the Festival. These special awards were given to:
- Irena Giannakopoulos - President of cultural and touristic meetings YPERIA in Greece
- Gavrilo Azinovic - General Manager of international Festival MEFEST in Serbia
- Ilija Marinkovic - Chancellor of the Chapter of Medal of Smile, accredited journalist from Serbia
Special award was also given to Gita Memmena, authoress of the photo exhibition presented during Festival "Coming home". Pictures taken by sensitive artist tell about return of fishermen from the sea. Theirs boat is in nature - sea, sky and sunset - in next paintings it approaches to home. "This story is about all of us - we come back from work, school (…),it is a way by which we come to us, to places we belong to - I think that it is important " - as Gita wrote about exhibition.
"Adventure with olive oil in Salento"
Italian tastes and these the most valuable from a "heel" of Apennine Peninsula were a huge success during the festival. "Adventure with olive oil in Salento" - our guests from Apuli entitled in this way this presentation. With the presidency of Antonio Conte - President of European Federation of Touristic Press, a well-known restaurant owner and master of Italian kitchen Carmelo Basile as well as Antonio Primiceri and Daniele Garzia - representatives of Federation on Southern Italy, they prepared a foretaste of delicious Italian dishes, an exhibition in town hall of Płock, and then they invited to supper in the restaurant "At Lawyer". Atmosphere was superb and both in kitchen, where Italian and Polish experts prepared Italian delicacies and at tables. Guests savoured refined wine of Salento and they tasted next dishes: famous spaghetti aglio, olio e peperoncino and penne al sugo.
Old Polish hospitality
International Tourfilm Festival was closed by a great feast in old Polish style, with a large quantity of meat and honey. The first toast was done by the host to encourage all guests to feast. Then, people noblemen from Trigger Fraternity with guests sat to table and they brought about to talk, to reconcile with swords, praising of possessing it. Guests tried our dishes with readiness, their cheeks quickly became pink because of honey, and their tongues started to talk. The group "Wisła" accompanied and it sang Polish songs, it was very merrily up to night. And every guest received a baggage to remember at home how much hospitable and open nation we are...
